Channel 7 Australia, Sunrise programme. A little antidote for the recession. Four preppy youngsters, wearing scarves and beads, a little (but not too much) choreography. Reject the Recession – the dance that will turn the world around. Not.
What were they thinking? Oh dear. Four faux-gangstas, strutting their stuff to make us all feel better, grooving to some obscure song that in effect says ‘don’t worry, be happy.’ At least Bobby Ferrin’s song has some character. Unlike this load of trite, vacuous nonsense. ‘Reject the recession, stay positive.’ Yeah. Like when you’ve lost your job and wondering how to pay the mortgage, while the government is cutting back on public spending, let’s stay positive. Don’t worry, be happy, smoke lots of drugs and it all won’t matter.
Reaction to the piece on the Channel 7 morning programme has been fairly uniform. These people were impressed. These ones were highly supportive. And these, well, words fail me.
